Employee Permits

Downtown employees can purchase and renew permits online at their convenience using our Permit Portal. Permits may also be purchased in person at Ferndale City Hall, located at 300 E. Nine Mile Rd. Our customer service associates are available to serve you Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. 

Managed Permits

If you work for an organization that is interested in managing the distribution of parking permits for several departments or service areas, contact parking@ferndalemi.gov to setup your account. Once your account is created, employees can be register under your business in the employee permit portal

Cost & Value

The City’s long-term plan provides incredible value for regular parkers. The cost is $20 per month, $60 quarterly, or $240 for an annual permit—just $5 a week for the average part-time employee, a savings of 60% off regular parking rates. 

Safety First

The safety and well-being of our community’s employees, visitors, and residents is of the utmost importance. Whether you’re parked in a public lot or on a residential street, in Ferndale or in another metro-area city, the same safety concerns exist. Here are a few points to keep in mind:

  • Republic Parking takes safety concerns seriously. Part of their role in our community is walking routes between the business districts and parking areas, identifying potential issues (such as unsafe walking conditions or broken lights), and fixing or repairing problems.
  • All downtown streets and public lots are well lit, even late at night, to increase visibility and create safer walking conditions.
  • The Ferndale Police Department has a steady presence throughout the downtown, business districts, and parking areas, especially at night. To increase safety further, walk with someone else when possible, carry a cell phone, and avoid alleys and similar dark areas.
