W. Troy Street Reconstruction Slated to Begin June 29

June 23, 2020

As construction on The dot—the City of Ferndale’s Development on Troy mixed-use parking project—progresses and moves closer to completion, you can expect to see some changes to the worksite and W. Troy sidewalk-scape in the coming days and weeks.

The Project

Colasanti Construction will lower the crane for disassembly and begin the process of reconstructing the W. Troy St. street- and sidewalk-scape beginning June 29.

Impact to Pedestrians and Businesses

The reconstruction work includes removing the sidewalk that provides pedestrian access to the rear business entrances along the north side of W. Troy St. During this time, sidewalk access to these buildings will be significantly reduced. Employees and guests should access buildings from W. Nine Mile Rd. for easier access. ADA accessibility will be preserved on W. Nine Mile while it is temporarily unavailable along W. Troy St.

When?

The W. Troy St. reconstruction project will begin on June 29 and last approximately four weeks.

Improvements Being Made

The overhaul of the W. Troy St. begins with the removal of the sidewalk followed by underground electrical work. The project will conclude with the elimination of curbs to create the area’s first shared street design; the installation of planters, street trees, and benches; and a new reinforced street paver system. During this period, crews will also be installing the glass facade on The dot along W. Troy St.
