Shuttle Company Chariot Announces Closure

January 10, 2019

City of Ferndale staff learned late this afternoon that Ford Mobility's app-based shuttle service Chariot will be going out of business effective Feb. 28, 2019.

"Following significant consideration, we have decided to close the Chariot operation," San Francisco-based Chariot CEO Dan Grossman said in a statement. "Chariot was built on a commitment to help reduce congestion, ease the commute and improve quality of life in cities. In today’s mobility landscape, the wants and needs of customers and cities are changing rapidly. As those changes continue, it has become clear that the mobility services delivered by Chariot over the past five years will not be a sustainable solution going forward. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause Chariot’s riders."

The City of Ferndale partnered with Chariot in late summer of 2018 on a 6-9-month pilot program to provide shuttle service as a temporary parking solution leading up to and during the construction of The dot. With the announcement of Chariot's closing, the City has decided to end the service at the close of operation on Saturday, Jan. 12.
