Clean the Ferndale Up Returns, Saturday - May 19th

May 18, 2018

Clean the Ferndale Up is the City's annual spring spruce-up event, where community members join staff and elected officials to rake, garden, repair, and beautify areas of our fair city. You can join the movement by volunteering for the group cleanup, or participate on your own—bring your recyclables to our on-site drop-off station, sponsored by DPW and SOCRRA, or simply use the opportunity to clean your own yard.

The event will take place Saturday, May 19, 2018, between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at Ferndale City Hall, with groups being dispersed after the group welcome. Parking in the City Hall lot (Lot #11) will be free during the event.

Cleanup projects this year include the Veteran’s Memorial, downtown Ferndale, and a selection of city parks. The event is open to all: residents, friends, families (supervised children are absolutely welcome), local businesses, and community groups. Physical limitations are not an issue; there are tasks for all, and we all work at our own speeds.

We work rain or shine, so we recommend dressing for outdoor weather—jeans, t-shirt or sweatshirt, boots or sneakers, and (depending on weather) a rain jacket or sunscreen. Also, if you have them, please bring garden gloves, a rake, and/or a shovel.

If you're planning to attend, we ask that you register beforehand so that we're able to plan projects and equipment. For more information, please see our Clean the Ferndale Up page or contact Michael Lary, Director of Special Events & Projects, at 248-546-2361 or mlary@ferndalemi.gov.
