Ferndale's Moving to a New Mobile Pay App!

It’s true—Ferndale is transferring to a new, more convenient parking app. Allow us to introduce you to ParkFerndale, powered by Passport Parking. 

Why the change? 

ParkFerndale offers several benefits for parking system users: 

• ‍Pay quickly and securely with your smartphone. (Parking kiosks will also still be available in the current locations.)
• ‍Get alerts when your parking session is about to end . . . and extend your session for free!
• ‍No price surprises: receive email receipts at the end of your parking session.
• ‍View and manage your parking history through the user-friendly mobile app.
• ‍Use an app and parking system that has broader coverage locally, including throughout Detroit.

The City is already using ParkFerndale for our new business and residential parking permitting, and the functionality and ease of use has created a significant improvement in user experience. We’re pleased to offer this same enhancement to all parking users. 

When will the new system launch? 

We’re planning for the end of June; an exact date will be released shortly. 

Is it hard to switch? 

Not at all; when the changeover happens, simply download the ParkFerndale app from your Apple Store or Google Play Store, sign up using your vehicle information and email address, and you’re all set. 

How will you let people know about the new app? 

In the weeks leading up to the launch of ParkFerndale, the City will install new parking signs and decals on meters, parking spaces, and payment kiosks. There will also be email, media, and social media communications, including a how-to video, website info, money-saving promotion codes, and more. 

What if my customers don’t have a smartphone or prefer to pay with cash?

Meters and kiosks will remain in their current locations and will continue to accept cash and coins. Kiosk users will identify their parking spots by entering their space number into any kiosk location, as they’ve done previously. 

How can I go about purchasing or arranging parking permits for my business/employees?

Business permits for owners and employees are a great value; they cost $20 per month, $60 quarterly, or $240 annually—or just $5 a week for the average part-time employee, a savings of 60% off regular parking rates. Visit the online parking permit portal to register and start the process.
